Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

WHAT IS A GICLEE?

The following terms will provide you with a better understanding for the quality product you are purchasing.

GICLEE - pronounced (zhee-klay)

The Term : The term  "giclee print" is an elevation in printmaking technology. Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto various substrates including canvas, fine art, and photo-base paper. The giclee printing process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction.

The Process : Giclee prints are created typically using professional 8-Color to 12-Color ink-jet printers. Among the manufacturers of these printers are vanguards such as Epson, MacDermid Colorspan, & Hewlett-Packard. These modern technology printers are capable of producing incredibly detailed prints for both the fine art and photographic markets. Giclee prints are sometimes referred to as Iris prints, which are 4-Color ink-jet prints from a printer pioneered in the late 1970s by Iris Graphics.

HOW LONG DOES THE PRINT TAKE TO SHIP?

When your purchase is made you will receive an email confirming your order has been received. From the time you receive the confirmation email you can expect your print will be produced and shipped within 5 - 10 business days. Once your parcel is shipped you will receive a second email with your parcel tracking number and estimated delivery time. If there is any delays you will be notified immediately via email.

HOW IS THE PRINT SHIPPED?

Your print, certificate and purchase reciept will be shipped in a reinforced cylindrical shipping tube. It will be carefully rolled and packaged to ensure your product arrives it pristine condition ready to be framed by your local framer.

DOES EACH PRINT COME WITH A CERTIFICATE?

If the print is a limited edition then it will be accompanied with an official certificate of authenticity from Jason O'Brien Gallery.COM signed and numbered by the artist himself.

WILL I GET A RECEIPT FOR MY PURCHASE?

Yes - Every print ordered through the site when shipped arrives with your purchase receipt inside the shipping tube.

HOW SHOULD I HANDLE THE PRINT?

It is strongly advised that you avoid frequently handling the print with your hands. Due to the nature and high quality of the "Somerset Velvet" archival paper the print is produced on, the oils and dirt from your hand can get in on the print and possibly stain it. It is best to deliver the print directly to your framer so it goes from tube to frame as soon as possible and avoid unnecessary handling in between.

HOW SHOULD I FRAME THE PRINT?

The process of selecting the matting and frame style is entirely subject to the aesthetic taste of the owner. Everyone has preferences for price-point, matt colour, frame size and style and whatever you select should be inline with your personal taste. Work with your local framer to consult you on your options that will meet your budget and most of all your ultimate satisfaction.

HOW IS THE CANVAS GLICLEE FRAMED?

The framed canvas giclee is essentially the canvas print already stretched on a standard gallery frame with the thickness of 1.5" inches - 2" inches. It will be wired in the back ready to hang on the wall.

WHY IS AN ORIGINAL PAINTING SHIPPED UNFRAMED?

An original canvas artwork is offered "unframed" to reduce shipping costs for the purchaser. If the original canvas is shipped already stretched on the wood frame the shipping freight costs would significantly increase and be passed on the the purchaser. If having it shipped framed is the preferred method contact us at - info@jasonobriengallery.com along with your address and postal code and we will have the costs calculated for you and communicate it via email.

If the purchaser agrees to the calculated shipping costs, the amount will be re-added to the overall total for the original painting and a new purchase link will be sent directly to you via email to complete the purchase transaction.

Once the order has been received a confirmation email will be sent with the tracking number and estimated shipping time.
